Wireless Dynamics were the first to develop an RFID reader using the SD Card form factor. The SDiD 1010 HF RFID SD Card is an RFID Reader / Writer SD Card supporting the Mifare family of high frequency tags. The SDiD 1010 can be used in a wide range of portable digital assistants by plugging the reader into an SD Card slot.

Card applications include reading and writing RFID tags for the health-care, pharmaceutical, retail logistics, and homeland security industries. The SDiD™ Card offers a safe, secure and seamless management solution for real-time inventory, asset and document tracking.

The SDiD Card also supports Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, allowing consumers to use their PDAs and Smartphones to access product and entertainment information, compare prices and make transactions such as contactless payments, coupon and point redemptions. NFC is a combination of contactless identification and interconnection technologies developed by Phillips and Sony.
